During the cruise, P.E.C. launched the ZORA! Circle of Friends — A group of individuals who understand and appreciate the role of heritage, education, and culture in the preservation of traditional communities such as Eatonville and who are willing to make the necessary investment that such preservation efforts require [click here for more information].

With the success of the “Tracing” Cruise, P.E.C. will plan a second conference cruise in the Spring of 2019. Preliminary plans will focus on celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Zora Neale Hurston™ Festival of the Arts and Humanities (ZORA!™ Festival). For more details as they become available in the Spring of 2017.

Though we “know” that nothing is perfect, our seven days aboard the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas has to be counted as “pretty close to perfection.” We enjoyed stimulating public humanities programming presented by distinguished members of the academy
